We hope that this information will be helpful as an overview of the work involved with many bathroom remodels and the associated costs and ranges based on previous Scopes of Work. While all bathroom remodels are unique many of the requirements to perform the work are very similar. They have been divided into two categories: Guest/Hall Bathrooms and Master Bathrooms.

Considerations
The following items contribute to total cost:
• Size and scope of work in regards to labor, parts and materials quantities
• Total amount of time and duration that it will take to perform the completed scope of work
• Modifications to the structure, layout and/or locations of plumbing and electrical items
• Grade, quality, and cost expense of parts and materials selections
• Demolition requirements, dust control and moving requirements, access to the working area, distance to outdoor working area(s)
• Age of home and code requirements
• Shower and water-proofing systems; cabinetry; quartz / granite; glass; any doors/windows or other items that are required to complete the full scope of work
• Design services, drawings, and features or work that may be unique to the remodel
Hall Bathrooms / Guest Bathrooms
A Scope of Work to remodel a medium-to-small sized bathroom often involves:
• Demolition and replacement of a tub with tile surround or converting it to a tiled shower with quality water-proofing system
• Demolition of wall tiles to studs and replacement of portions of the walls (tile or gypsum/drywall)
• Demolition of flooring and repairs to the subfloor and framing (for conventional foundations and upstairs bathrooms) or demolition of flooring and preparation of slab for new tiles; repair work, new underlayment and/or leveling is often needed
• Replacement, repairs, and/or upgrades to all or portions of the in-wall plumbing to accommodate new fixtures/trim, layout/location, and other work that may be required depending on the age and condition of the house. In most instances a Licensed Master Plumber is necessary for a bathroom remodel or renovation
• New plumbing fixtures including shower fixtures/trim with new valve(s), faucets, toilet, and other bathroom fixtures
• Replacement, repairs, and/or modifications to the electrical within the bathroom, for example: Adding, moving, replacing, upgrading and/or modifying switches, receptacles, and light fixtures — Note: In most instances a Licensed Electrician is required for a bathroom remodel
• Cabinetry work that involves replacement cabinetry, custom cabinetry, and/or modifications to existing cabinetry, like: cabinet refinishing, cabinet doors/drawer replacement
• Quartz or granite for vanity tops and oftentimes portions of a tiled shower (curb, niches, part walls, shelves)
• Finish carpentry (baseboards, quarter-round, trim around doors, windows, ceilings, and any other carpentry-related features); Drywall replacement, refinishing, and/or repair; Professional painting; New plumbing fixtures; New electrical fixtures; Shower glass; Accessories
• Hauling off of debris; Workflows that help the project stay as clean and organized as possible so that the experience is as comfortable as possible for the homeowner(s); Masking portions of adjacent rooms to prevent dust spread; Covering of floors to and from working areas; Covering and masking portions of the work being performed as the next trade begins (a good example of this would be covering new tile and grout); Professional cleaning upon completion of the project
• Licensed Home Builder/Remodeler, Licensed Plumber, Licensed Electrician and necessary permit(s) depending on the Scope of Work that is being performed.
Hall/Guest Bathroom Remodel Average Cost: $24,200
Hall/Guest Bathroom Remodel Approximate Range: $17,300 – $38,500
Master Bathroom Remodels
A Scope of Work to remodel a master bathroom involves much of the same work listed above for guest bathrooms but will oftentimes include some of the following:
• An overall increase in cost due to a larger space (labor, parts and materials quantities)
• Additional work performed to the closets and/or adjacent rooms or spaces
• Items such as tub surrounds with renovated or re-built decks/aprons/surrounds oftentimes involving finish carpentry, tile and/or quartz; Free-standing tubs that require partial demolition of concrete slab and/or framing and repairs to such
• Custom shower features including resizing the shower, lowering the entry, niches, benches, and other functional and/or unique design features
• Other items a master bathroom may include are: heated floors, upgraded plumbing parts and shower systems, additional cabinetry, adding recessed lighting, chandelier, and/or other features.
Master Bathroom Remodel Average: $53,750
Master Bathroom Remodel Range: $24,500 – $81,000
